What is a Keto diet?

To put it simply, the Keto diet is extremely low in carbs, but high in fats. Why are we avoiding carbs? Because when we eat carbohydrates, our body produces glucose & insulin. When this happens, glucose becomes the primary source of energy and everything else (if unused), is stored as fat.

What happens when you starve your body of carbohydrates?
When our bodies aren’t getting enough carbs, it needs to find other ways to make energy – one of these is called ketogenesis. During ketogenesis, the body relies on fat as energy as opposed to glucose. In turn, your body is burning more fat.
